Organisations in Ireland that can provide help and support

As in the UK there are many organisations in Ireland that can provide help and support to individuals who develop a problem with gambling.

Gamblers Anonymous operate support groups throughout Ireland. Gamblers anonymous is made up of groups of men and women who gather regularly to share their experiences of problem-gambling and give each other strength and hope.

Remember The only requirement for GA membership is a desire to stop gambling.

Gam-Anon is a support group for those who are affected by someone else’s problem gambling. Operated by Gamblers Anonymous the meetings are run in a similar way. There is no signing in, no charge and no appointment to make. There are no intrusive questions, no obligations, just a group of men and women who are husbands, wives, relatives or close friends of someone with a gambling problem.

Dunlewey Gambling Addiction Services Professional counsellors are available at the end of the line to provide emotional support, advice and information. The service is nationwide, free and completely confidential. Phone lines are open seven days a week from 9am – 11pm. Please call 1800 936 725

Problem Gambling Ireland offers free independent support and resources for anyone affected by problem gambling in Ireland. You can speak to them in complete confidence (Mon – Fri 09.00 –17.00) by emailing them at info@problemgambling.ie or text on 089 241 5401 to arrange a call back.

Gambling Therapy is a global service offering free practical advice and emotional support to anyone affected by problem gambling. Join an online support group from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Groups are facilitated by trained and experienced support workers or peer-run. Support Forums are available 24/7, you can pose questions, support others or simply keep others updated on your progress.

Aiséirí run four rehabilitation and treatment centres around Ireland. Offering both residential and community programmes Aiséirí provides counselling and and specialist support for those recovering from addiction. Specialised programmes are available for adolescents and young adults. Information about treatment programs is available on the Aiséirí website or by calling 052-744 1166.
