Over the last few years there has been an increase in online fraud. To reduce the risk of fraud and provide added security to customers online, a new protocol process has been designed for online transactions (3DS2). You may have seen it on other sites too, here are some of the main authentication systems:

  • Visa secure

  • Mastercard Identity check

Why do tote need 3DS2?

3DS2 is now a regulatory requirement which all companies that take online transactions will shortly have to adhere too. Tote has chosen to implement it now because it helps to provide a safer, more secure environment for our customers.

How does it work?

3DS2 challenges will occur when you try to deposit money into your tote account. Your bank will decide whether or not they require extra verification from you. This isn’t always needed, but it is your bank that decides.

If you are met with a challenge this could come in a few different forms depending on your bank. You could be asked to open your banking app, or enter a code. That code can be sent via sms, email or call.

PLEASE NOTE that, if you choose to have a code sent to you, your bank will send it to the phone number or email address that you have registered with them, NOT the one you have registered with tote.
